Coach Young has spent the past ten seasons with the Redhawks, first as a player, and the last four years as the manager. Coach Young brings with him four years college coaching experience (Porterville Community College) and was the head varsity baseball coach at Upper Lake High School from 2001-2004. Coach Young graduated from Upper Lake High School in 1992. He then went on to play at Yuba Community College, where he then transferred to the University of Wyoming. Coach Young quickly established himself as the Cowboys number one pitcher, one of the Western Athletic Conference's top pitchers, "WAC Player of the Week" and "Player of the Week" in Baseball America for his pitching performances against Arizona, Grand Canyon and Creighton Universities.
Coach Young received his BA degree, majoring in American Studies, from CSU Chico, and is currently working on his MS degree in Health Promotion from Mississippi State and teaching credential/MA in Education from National University.
Coach Young has several years experience with youth and young adults. He has had experiences as adjunct faculty & adult education instructor at Porterville College, substitute teacher within seven different school districts and two states, ten years experience coaching little league, and now works at the Lake County Office of Education as a Prevention Coordinator.
Coach Young is engaged to Angelina Arroyo and has three boys, Dustin, Wesley, Kai, and one new addition to the family, daughter Madeline Florence (born on 6/20/05).
